Life Begins at Conception

If the generation that matured in the years after the Great War was the Lost Generation, the Millennials are the Last Generation. Not, of course, that there won’t be successive generations, but ours is a generation that is intended to be the final synthesis of experiments in social engineering and central planning. The specter of communism is a simulacrum of its 20th century iterations, and the social democracy eschatology in which the hegemony of the American government could just be assumed has removed the concept from the Millennial’s mind that society would be any other way. History unfolds dialectically, thesis and antithesis, capitalism and socialism, aristocracy and democracy, liberty and equality. Ours is a generation which literally believes in the Absolute manifest as Progress, a reified force of history which promises salvation to those on its right side. “Because this is 2014” is the climactic and final argument to vanquish all others, at least until 2015.

The way has been cleared for the final removal of the traditions which oppressed individuals and limited their freedom of identity. In so doing, we have lost a means of interacting with each other. At the club, we are but animals, reduced to physical assemblage, the music repressing that dangerous urge to speak. The reduction to social atom in this way is an equilibrium; in an age in which pleasant expectations of the other sex are at least suspiciously intolerant, the Millennials construct selves from the 20th century mire of narrativized capitalism and post pictures of cats on Twitter. We don’t want to hear each other speak. We only want to be heard. It is the expectation that others will indulge us our self-actualization, and a banal narcissism is the norm, conversation becomes the mutual masturbation of intellect. If there is no penalty to failing to mature to the task of life, no gates can keep the barbarians out. We are the barbarians.

The critique of culture has pervaded culture to the extent that extended commentary on culture, commentary on commentary, becomes the norm of Internet communities. Dongles. Coffeegate. Dickinson. Arab Spring. Eich. Culture plugged into culture, recursively exhausting its prolific permutations at greater and greater velocity, tearing apart the hope of a shared background between the kids who grow up next door to each other. In the post-scarcity society, the only means of competing are the latest in moral fashion. The culture of irony is signaling all the way down. All the cool kids are doing it. Consumption never for-itself, but for the signified. The inversion of sign and sense, signified and sensed, is the soteriology of the Enlightenment. It is everyone thinking for themselves thinking the same things.

Everything which we point to as the moral scandals of our day rarely are. In turn, everything accepted as normal is the scandal. Teens having sex in school. The problem isn’t the kids. Teens having sex is normal. The problem is the system. Yet the system defies critique, for whoever would critique is simply not a part of it and thus disqualified from obtaining voice. The Victorian sentiment of Lady Bracknell rings truer now than ever before: “Never speak disrespectfully of Society, Algernon.  Only people who can’t get into it do that.” Moral outrage and the complete dissolution of sexual norms is the profound question of our generation. The biopolitical fiat of Nature will not be overcome. The foundation of civilization is not the material, but the social. Society is people.

The end of the family in the West is the problem. The machinations of materialistic Puritanism have salted the fields of fertility and we eat the seed corn. Those who are not given the call cannot rise to the challenge, and the complete absence of paternal and maternal responsibility means only a moral atrophy. Life begins at conception, that is, life comes into its own when it succeeds in generating. Mine is the Generation void of generation. There is no symbol more prescient of modernity than the empty home.

The decline of the West is a social matter. A highly leveraged investment in adolescence has been made, and the market is beginning to respond. There is a simple want for fertility, and for our failure Darwin begins pruning. Procreation is the evolutionary imperative, and ours is a failed branch.

The radical is ironic; but all is ironic. Therefore, the radical is the normal. Whatever the young white male might be is an indictment. There is as much cost to bear for the least microagression as for a profound heresy, from which it follows that the incentive is to be as heretical as possible. A Millennial is an ideologue by default, and it is not a question of whether, but which. Leftism accelerates. The freedom to dissent from the standard soteriological social model handed down from on high by the universalist papacy of Harvard wanes, and a vociferous intolerance for conservative thought waxes. Employment has become a fundamentally political matter, and the Party members are privileged; how long until one must be a Party member in order to hold a job at all?

An unapologetic rightism must be developed if the blessings of Western civilization are to be salvaged. Wars are not decided by moral affiliation, but sheer force. The upending of Progressive orthodoxy shall be as the stylized Copernican Revolution, a Kuhnian paradigm shift. The socio-cosmological models of Enlightenment philosophies are accreting unwieldy epicycles, and the traditional model of organic society is a simpler, more elegant theory. Nature is on our side, it is only a matter of continuing to level assaults on the bastions of political correctness.

  1. The end of the family is the problem for theonomists, the end of the nation is the problem for ethno-nationalists, and quite likely the end of distinct hierarchy is the problem for techno-commercialists who want to end inefficient bureaucracies.

What is most needed is to allow room for the different sub-sets of Neoreaction to develop and after they are developed to have each of them compromise to the other two.

I’ll end by writing that the Darwinian, reproductive test is very likely a more ideological difference than a real affecting difference that modern dissidents will face and deal with. To put it more concisely, that there are Malthusians and those that aren’t. And, progress will be made by finding the rhetorical weak spots of those Malthusians and hitting them…

    J.P.O.

  2. We have always been outnumbered as White Men yet we have always triumphed. There is no reason to believe that we (quality) can’t defeat the ‘other’ (quantity).

A good place to start is to separate the wheat from the chaff with regards to our women (in which the wheat is outnumbered by the chaff, unfortunately).
